Join the #GiveHope Campaign: Empower Women and Children in Kenya
My name is Elena Einstein. In March 2023, I attended the Women’s Leadership and Empowerment Conference (WLEC) in Bangkok, Thailand, where I met an inspiring leader, Leah Nyalobo. Leah shared her incredible work empowering women and girls in Kenya who have survived gender-based violence. Her mission moved me deeply, and I asked her, “How can I help?”
By July 2023, we launched a GoFundMe to support Leah’s nonprofit efforts. Together, we’ve achieved so much in just two phases:
Phase 1: Empowering Women and Girls
•Rescued four young girls from forced child marriages and enrolled them in school for one year.
•Purchased three sewing machines and launched the Elena Einstein Vocational Centre, providing vital life skills training for survivors of gender-based violence.
•Supported 9 women and their 12 children, giving them a safe space and tools for a fresh start.
Phase 2: Providing Nourishment and Stability
•Created a feeding program offering two meals daily to 9 women and their 12 children.
•Hired a caregiver to care for the children while their mothers attended training sessions.
•Raised $8,000 to ensure these families had the resources they needed to heal and grow.
Now, we’re launching Phase 3: The #GiveHope Campaign.
Phase 3 Goals: Transforming Lives Again
We’re raising $10,400 to support a second cohort of 10 women and their children. This funding will provide:
•Two meals daily for a year: $546/month (82 cents a day per person).
•Caregiver and fuel costs: $182/month to care for children and cook meals.
•Training materials: $137/month for sewing and other vocational supplies.
Sponsor a Child for School – $2,300 Goal
We’re also sponsoring Lucy, Margaret, Edina, and Elizabeth for a second year of school.
•$450 per child for tuition and boarding.
•$500 for mentoring and monitoring visits to ensure their success.
Support Women Entrepreneurs – $900 Goal
We aim to launch a tailoring business led by Paulina, one of our graduates. This pilot project will employ two additional graduates and help women gain financial independence.
•$150 for a multipurpose sewing machine.
•$300 for three months of business space.
•$450 for permits, utilities, and materials.
The Impact So Far
•Four rescued girls are thriving in school.
•Our first vocational training cohort of 9 women is graduating in November, ready to begin new lives.
•The Elena Einstein Vocational Centre is a beacon of hope, named by the women it serves.
As Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
With your support, we can continue empowering women and children to break cycles of violence and poverty. Every donation brings us closer to creating lasting change in this community.
