Hi everyone, my name is Chelston Brazier, and I’m 19 years old.

I never imagined I would be in a position where I’d have to ask for help, but my world has been turned upside down, and I’m reaching out with as much strength and hope as I can.

For over a year, my mom who is a double amputee has been fighting for her life, in and out of the hospital. She is currently in rehab trying to regain her strength, but after everything she has survived, she now has no home to return to , adding heartbreak to an already overwhelming journey.

Then, on Sunday morning, November 23rd, at around 3:00 AM, tragedy struck again.

A fire broke out in the building where I’ve lived with my grandmother for the last 11 years 30 Cottage Avenue in Mount Vernon, NY. I was asleep when the fire started on the 7th floor. By the time I made it out safely, my entire apartment had been destroyed.

Everything is gone.

My clothes. My shoes. My personal belongings.

All the new furniture and appliances my aunt helped me get so I could finally make my place feel like home gone in minutes.

While I’m incredibly grateful to be alive, the reality of having to rebuild from nothing at 19 is terrifying. But what weighs on me the most is knowing that my mom, who has already endured more than most people face in a lifetime, now has no safe home to come back to once she’s released from rehab.

This fire didn’t just take my belongings it took our stability, our security, and the one place we had left.

I’m creating this GoFundMe in hopes of getting help to replace what was lost, secure housing, and rebuild a home my mom can safely return to. Any support whether it’s a donation, a share, or even just keeping us in your thoughts means more than words can express.
