Help us expand our farm

Donation protected
With spring quickly approaching, Alex and I have some new business ideas in the works. Our main idea is to start a no till Garden with organic practices. We primarily want to grow greens such as, a variety of Head Lettuce, Kale, Arugula and Spinach. We will also be growing smaller amounts of seasonal produce.

This would be SO beneficial for our business and our family considering we could sell vegetable boxes along with eggs on delivery day. We would also be able to sell all our homegrown produce in The Maller Mini barn! That means vegetable sales would be 100% profit since there is no middle man!

Our only issue is … DUN DUN DUN…the dreaded start up costs to make this work. After we feed all our animals, ourselves, and pay all the bills around here, we have little to nothing left. Most of you know that almost everything goes back into making the farm survive, because this is our passion. Sometimes only one passion alone isn’t enough to have a successful farm business.

We want to do more than survive, we both work too hard to just “get by” Our hope is to be successful farmers, but the reality is, we can’t live off only egg sales forever. I know this would be a fantastic opportunity to bring in more revenue for our small, trying farm business.

With all that said, we are asking our wonderful customers or anyone who believes in our story to invest in our farm. We desperately want to do more with our little business, but we need your help and support in order to do so! If we don’t make moves now, I’m not sure how long we will be able to “survive” in this crazy expensive world.

We have been contemplating making this post for weeks now, and the reality is, you don’t get anywhere unless you take chances. That and, Alex’s current place of employment just went out of business which once again puts in a tough situation right when we get production back up This is the 3rd restaurant he’s worked at in the last 3 years that just couldn’t make it any longer. We don’t want the same thing to happen to us, which is why we need to expand Ladybird Farm.

All donations would go towards start up costs such as, seeds, compost, conduit pipe, greenhouse plastic, gardening tools, ect. Ideally, we would LOVE to raise enough funds for a Farmers Friend Caterpillar tunnel These are entry level greenhouses that are great for season extension and they are much more affordable than a traditional green house.

Anybody that donates big or small can expect to receive a variety greens and vegetables from our first couple harvests! We already provide so many of you with fresh eggs, we would love to start bringing your household locally grown produce as well!

If you’d like to donate but don’t have the means to, that’s ok! Maybe you could help us in another way. Do you have wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels, pitch forks, left over organic fertilizers, or anything you think would be beneficial for our first season! Another way you could help is by SHARING THIS POST!

As a community based business, we couldn’t do any of this without you guys!! You all are the reason we are where we are now and we truly appreciate each and every one of you for supporting our small farm business over the last two years. We can only hope there are many of you that want to see us keep going, and keep growing. Thank you for taking the time to read this post and thank you for considering donating. We love you all! ‍ ♥️
