Jodey's Commonwealth Dream

As many of you know, I am a competitive weightlifter and since starting 3 and a half years ago, have been the Scottish Champion 3 times and last month managed to win the silver medal at the British Championships.
In the spring of 2015 I met my coach Ken Holland at Crossfit East Kilbride and he quickly told me that if I ditched the cardio part of Crossfit (after all I wasn’t very good at it!) and concentrated on weightlifting he could get me to qualify for my first British Championships in 6 weeks. I qualified!
I have enjoyed ups and downs in the last few years but my domestic success has meant that I have a chance at a dream spot in the Scotland squad at next year’s Commonwealth Games. My last chance to shine before the games is a tournament called the Commonwealth Championships next month in Australia and I have been selected by the Scotland team.
Unfortunately there is no funding available for this and juggling a full time job, hours of training every day, nutrition, mental training and other expenses already makes this a tremendous feat and this is why I’m making this page, to try and make this dream possible.
I have sacrificed so much for my dream, from giving up on a social life, amassing a collection of 27 protein shakers, to becoming British and at 34 this could be my only opportunity. Any help any of you could give would be massively appreciated.
I have used Instagram to record my journey and anybody wishing to look at all my hard work can do so at
