Ricky has been the heart of our home since the day he arrived. He’s gentle, patient, a little too wise for his age, and the kind of dog who seems to understand everyone around him. Over the past few weeks, something changed in his left eye. What started as irritation quickly turned into something far more serious. After several appointments, we learned the hardest news: his eye can’t be saved, and keeping it is now causing him pain.
The only way to give him a comfortable, healthy life is through enucleation, a surgery to remove the damaged eye. It’s the last thing we ever expected to hear. We’ve been doing everything we can to manage his care, but the $4,500 cost of the surgery, medications, and follow-up appointments is beyond what we can realistically cover on our own right now.
Ricky has been there for us through every high and low — the late nights, the bad days, the quiet moments when all we needed was to feel understood. He’s the dog who leans his whole body against you when you’re overwhelmed, who greets you like you’ve been gone a year even if it’s only been five minutes, who brings so much peace and humor into our lives without ever asking for anything.
Now he needs us.
This surgery will take away his pain and give him the chance to get back to being the bright, goofy, loving dog everyone knows. Dogs adapt incredibly well to losing an eye, and the vets are confident he’ll live a full, happy life after recovery.
We’re asking for help — something we’re not used to doing. Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly toward Ricky’s surgery, medications, and care. Even sharing this page helps more than you know.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us give Ricky the comfort and future he deserves. He’s our family, and we can’t imagine our world without his calm little presence in it.
