Support Mark's Journey to Recovery and Hope

Donation protected
Hi All,

My name is Lisa Metivier, and I am trying to raise money to help my very dear friend, Mark Lovely. On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Mark had a fall while at home. This fall resulted in Mark sustaining a very serious spinal injury which left him paralyzed from mid-chest down to his toes. After his LifeFlight trip to UMass, he underwent laminectomy surgery on C4-C5 on September 18, 2024, at UMass University Trauma Center, and had an ICU stay there for over a week. Last Tuesday, October 1st, Mark was transferred by Medstar Ambulance to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown, MA. Mark is alert and oriented, able to speak and see visitors. Unfortunately, Mark is not able to walk or move his hands or arms. He still has numbness throughout most of his body and has already started rigorous daily physical therapy to try to be able to return to a life of walking and moving about like all of us. He has a very long road ahead of him, and as such, will need to pay for some costly medical bills as well as bills to maintain his apartment, feed his cats, Bentley & Clarence, as well as pay for his previous bills from before the accident. Mark will most likely be in rehab for many months and can use all the help we can give to him.

Mark has been an EMT for just about 11 years and is a hell of a care provider to his patients. Mark classically uses his uncanny humor to make most of his patients feel better and help them to deal with the emergency at hand. Mark has had several instances where the work he did helped someone to survive cardiac arrest among numerous other types of calls. Prior to EMS, Mark worked at a school helping youth to develop into young, productive, educated, and hard-working members of our society. He played a hand in teaching important life lessons to the students so that they could be successful in life. He works at MedStar Ambulance, specifically in the towns of Millbury & Sutton, as well as the East Brookfield Fire/EMS Department. Mark has dedicated the better part of the last 15 years to helping others, selflessly. Now, he really needs OUR help.

I hope that together we can raise enough money to help Mark as he recovers at Spaulding Rehab. Mark should not have to worry about home and medical bills; he should only need to worry about what matters most now, which is for him to recover, to walk again, feed himself again, and be back out here with all of us to keep us entertained, keep us on our toes, and be our wonderful friend and colleague. Thank you for helping us to support Mark and try to do our part to get him back to being back on his feet.
