100% OF DONATIONS & FUNDS FROM THIS CONCERT WILL GO DIRECTLY TO HOME GROWN AUSTRALIA to support the not-for-profit company in continuing to develop and promote Australian musical theatre.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a halt, and the Arts in Australia has been greatly challenged. Graduating Music Theatre Students from all over Australia were selected from over 55 submissions to perform 20 songs penned by Aussie writers including Tim Minchin, Kate Miller-Heidke, Bryant & Frank, Matthew Lee Robinson, Carmel Dean, Katie Weston; including 2 original songs by students!
Funds will be going towards filling the gap left in the year usually occupied by ticketed events. It will enable HOME GROWN to keep fostering and developing original Australian musicals and artists through COVID and beyond, and will contribute towards Home Grown's mission of balancing Australian stages with Australian stories.
This event came about after a successful run of Songs for a Future Oz's first livestream concert, which happened in May 2020. Our goal was to connect MT students from around Australia and present the up-and-coming talents of the country.
