Lori's Cancer Journey---Round 2!!!

Donation protected
I am creating this site for my sister, Lori, who has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Oral Cancer. Lori is a nurse who has spent the last 20+ years taking care of others. She has 2 sons and a beautiful granddaughter, Brooklynn, who she is madly in love with. In mid-April, she had gone to the ER for intense pain in her gum line. After being treated for her pain and undergoing a battery of tests, she was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. She had surgery to biopsy the mass; the tests came back positive for cancer. The mass is in her jaw and her cancer has also visibly spread to a lymph node with the probability of being in additional nodes.

After a whirlwind of doctor visits, PET and CT scans, and numerous
consultations with an ENT who specializes in head and neck cancers, in conjunction with her Oncology team, she will require surgery to remove the cancer as well as have reconstructive surgery to rebuild her jaw. The surgery is expected to take 12-16 hours, with one surgeon to take out the cancer and a team of surgeons for the reconstruction. After surgery she will be in ICU for a few days and is expected to be in the hospital for about 2 weeks. She will then have a lengthy recovery which will require her to be out of work upwards of a year.

When she recovers from surgery, she will require radiation every day for 6 weeks and chemo to follow that. She will also require a feeding tube for approximately 6 months as her jaw heals. She is ready to fight with all her might but will be faced with substantial mounting bills. She will need all the support she can get as there will be medical bills, co-pays, medication costs, monthly bills and an indefinite amount of missed work and hopefully partial income from the federal disability income program which she has applied for but not approved as of yet.

Lori has always given so much of herself to others, I am hoping our family and friends can help during this time of need. If you would consider donating what you can so money can be one less thing she has to worry about, we greatly appreciate it.

We thank you for any support you can provide.
