News Story of the Crash
My family needs your help. Three weeks ago, my young, healthy nephew, Brandon, was driving from a family dinner to his parents’ house when he was hit by an irresponsible driver who ran a red light and was possibly driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was going between 70 and 100 mph upon impact with Brandon's car. Brandon suffered significant injuries and was transported to Holmes Regional Trauma Center. Among other injuries, his pelvis is broken in five places, and he will be wheelchair bound for several months. He faces a long recovery, including regaining the strength in his hips and legs to walk again.
My sister and her family have plenty to deal with in supporting Brandon through his rehab. Unfortunately, they have a second problem that's already weighing heavily. As you can imagine, the insurance pay out was minimal and hospital bills are mounting. I have been through a similar tragedy; eleven years ago on the same exact date, my fiancé at the time was almost killed by an irresponsible driver and suffered comparable injuries. His recovery took a very long time, and the consequences of that driver’s bad choice linger to this day. I know from personal experience where my sister and her husband are coming from.
We all do what we can to get through life's hurdles, and sometimes that means we need a helping hand.
