Hello , My name is Brenda Basile and I am Michael's sister. Let me start by thanking all of you for taking the time to read this. It's never easy asking for help, especially when you've always done everything you could to provide for your family on your own. That is definitely Mike's style. Unfortunately we don't always get to pick our path...at least not our entire path. Sometimes, we have to take a detour.

In August 2025, after just turning 49 a month earlier, Mike underwent a medical emergency and was diagnosed with stage 3rectal cancer that had also been found in his lymphnodes . He underwent surgery, then radiation for 6 weeks followed by a PET scan, which determined he would need 16 weeks of Chemotherapy, then surgery and quite possibly another round of Chemotherapy.

Right now, he is 2 treatments away from surgery.

Through it all, he has been working whenever he feels well enough, but without a doubt, therapy, lack of appetite and just keeping a family and household together and functioning takes more than just physical wellness.

Mike and his amazing wife have 6 children between them, 3 are teenagers, 2 are 11 and the youngest is almost 8. As the primary provider for the family, plus being self employed in the construction trade, the inability to work everyday has taken its toll. The next phase requires him to REALLY just take the time to heal properly. We just want to make sure that while he is completing these treatments, he is able to pay for the necessities until he is able to return back to work, a time frame which will be dependent on the extent of surgery, healing and follow-up treatments.
