Help the Phillips Family

The Phillips Family have been through Hell this past week. I'm sharing the story they shared with others, which explains how they landed in this nightmare...
"In the blink of an eye, everything changed. On Monday, Nathan was playing in a baseball game; come Tuesday morning, he couldn’t feel his legs. Nathan was admitted to UW Children’s Hospital Tuesday afternoon to figure out what was going on. After days of labs and tests, it was determined Nathan suffered a stroke in his spinal cord, leaving him unable to walk. Only time will tell what he regains. I have always been proud of my son, but his strength, resilience, positive attitude, and determination throughout all of this has been awe-inspiring.
We are still processing and ask for prayers as we navigate what has happened and what is to come."
This family is so active in the Edgerton community. Jokingly but also seriously, this family has likely fed, given rides to, coached, or given ice/band-aids to just about every kid in this town...now it's time for the town to show up for them. Nathan is such a kind, caring, hardworking kid who has a long road to recovery ahead. The doctors have said there is no prediction for how and what his body will regain in his rehab. What we do know is that this kid will work so hard to get back everything he can. But this will take weeks to months.
This is where the community can help. As of now, the decision to ask for financial help is most immediate to cover the cost of gas for daily trips to the hospital (where he'll be for weeks to possibly months), the support of lost wages from time off work, medical bills, and for any adaptive devices for home and mobility that he may need for the future (depending on his level of functioning he gains back).
Once Nathan is back home, meal delivery and other ways to support can be addressed.
If you are unable to contribute financially, it would be awesome to send words of encouragement to Nathan via mail. His address at the hospital is:
Nathan Phillips
General Care Unit Rm 5131
UW Children’s Hospital
1675 Highland Ave.
Madison, WI 53792
He is open for visitors, but please reach out to Shannon or Jeremy to set up as Nathan has therapy several hours a day and needs to prioritize that.
