Special Needs Kids CBI trips
Donation protected
I sincerely need your help in making some dreams come true for a special group of kids!
I have been made aware that a class of Special Needs kids would like to go to the Georgia Aquarium and the Atlanta Zoo this school year. While these sound really fun trips, these trips help this group of Special Needs kids learn important socialization skills. Their school is doing everything possible to fund these important outings but fall short in covering the cost. I have learned that the passionate and committed teacher has been paying some of the cost out of her own pocket. I feel, we as a community, need to chip in and help out with expenses.
Let's show both the students and the teacher that we support their needs!
Given that there are approximately 20 kids that are in need of these specialized trips, we have a lot of money to raise quickly!
We need to raise at least $3,600 for this year. That is $180.00 per student.
What is this program CBI and what does it do?
These special focus trips are part of a program CBI (Community Based Instruction). It seeks to provide reoccurring and varied learning experiences in the community in order to prepare the kids forbetter quality of life as adults. CBI provides age appropriate environments, vocational skills, training, facilitate social and behavioral skills for the environments they will need. CBI does a great job helping students with Special Needs increase their odds for achieving maximum indepndence for a better quality of life. CBI is not just for the older students with special needs. These kids need to start early, as the transition to the work environment needs to start early, well before they graduate!
The CBI program at this school takes 18 of these kind of tripsbeach year--to restaurants, to a park,to a store, all the while learning. Based on what we know, these costs are about $3,600 more a year than the school budget can address. The school does the best it can with the money it has but falls short so the teacher, as I have mentioned before, uses her own money to fill the gaps.
Please help me in anyway you can to solve this fundraising need. This is not a formal charity, just parents and grandparents who see a need and want to make a difference.
May I count on you to help make a difference and a donation to help these Special Needs kids go forward with their future?
I want to thank you from my heart that withyour donation you will be changing these kids school year and their future!
