Jake and Kacy motorcycle accident

Hey everyone, my name is Kacy, I’m Jake’s wife. We were in a motorcycle accident this last Tuesday evening. He kept the bike under control long enough for me to get away with just road rash, a broken thumb and bruises. However, in doing so he broke his pelvis in three places with Bruising and lots of road rash. We aren’t usually people to ask for help but we’re not exactly sure what our future looks like at the moment. Unfortunately, we had a lapse in medical insurance. We appreciate anything that you may be willing to give to put towards future medical bills and expenses. Thank you all for the love and support as we journey into the long road ahead of recovery. UPDATE: Jake has had surgery and has 2 screws through his pelvis. He also tore ligaments in his shoulder. He is currently on the ortho-trauma floor at Parkview North. He is hoping to be discharged in 24-48 hours to Parkview Randallia inpatient therapy for a few weeks before coming home. His left shoulder has torn ligaments which means his left arm is not to be used for a few weeks. He has stood a few times with assistance, getting better each day. He’s working through the pain and looking forward to being far enough in therapy to come out to the parking lot to see the pups.6/30/23

UPDATE: Jake had surgery on his shoulder before we left the trauma ortho floor. He tore his AC joint and had to have a knotless tight rope reconstruction. Unfortunately, due to surgery he cannot put any weight through his left arm for at least 4 weeks. However, him having the surgery will hopefully prevent future injuries. He has been moved to inpatient rehab at Parkview Randallia until further notice. He has PT and OT 3 hours a day Monday through Friday. Since he got here halfway through the week, he will have therapy this Saturday as well. His therapy sessions are going really well! Every day is an improvement, he has surprised himself with some things he can do and vice versa. It’s been amazing to watch his progress over such a short time already! Due to his weight bearing status he will come home in a wheelchair for awhile so his bones can heal properly. He’s learning to navigate the short-term ‘new normal’ and even making the staff laugh along the way! He has been officially cleared this late afternoon to go down to the parking lot for a pup visit!

UPDATE: 7/10/23 Jake is home!!!! Learning to navigate the new normal for the next few weeks with his wheelchair until his shoulder can heal and he can use his left arm for more assistance while walking. He has good times and down times which is all part of the recovery process but difficult to watch at times. He will start outpatient therapy asap but in the meantime, he is exercising at home. We have appreciated the visits from family and friends! A little laughter goes a long way we love you all! Thank you for your continued prayers, love and support, we couldn’t do it without our tribe! We deeply appreciate each and everyone of you!

Update 8-2: Jake was seen today to get physical therapy set up for his arm and hip. We have some financial assistant paperwork we have to wait on to schedule therapy. The paperwork is about 6-7 weeks out so we'll be looking up some basic exercises online so he can start building some muscle back. He's been prescribed an arthritis medication to help with pain that is a non addictive medication so he can hopefully have some pain relief without taking a narcotic. He laid flat on our bed for about 2 hours for the first time last night, and the pups loved it!! He's able to be left alone for a few hours, while I go to work/run errands. The fractures in my thumb are healed but I am currently in occupational therapy because I am still unable to bend my right thumb at the first knuckle. Because of my job, I will need my thumb fully healed to get back to work but I'm still able to reception in the meantime. Our families have been absolutely amazing during this time, making sure the house is clean, fridge is stocked, weeds are pulled, lawn is mowed. The list goes on! We could not make it through without the love and support of all of our friends and family! We are eternally grateful for our tribe!
