I remember the day very vividly. It was November 1st 2019. That day was one of my favorite days of the year. My sons birthday. Instead of a celebration, my family received some of the worst news a family can. It was the day my niece was diagnosed with Cancer. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. My brothers family was turned upside down. We all worry day to day about what now seems to be trivial things. When a loved one gets a cancer diagnosis, the fight for their life becomes a consuming task felt by all that are surrounded. My niece Emma is by far one of the most gentle, caring, and optimistic human beings anyone will ever encounter. She was on the Conrad Weiser cheer team leading a very typical teenage girls life when it all came to a halt. She has traded afterschool cheer with friends to spinal taps and blood count panels. Through all of this she has stayed positive, but the toll its taking on the family is mounting. Her treatment is being done at Hershey Medical Center, it will last for the next 2 years, having chemotherapy to kill the cancer three times a week. Her mom and dad are barely able to make enough to cover the mortgage let alone car payments, food, and household expenses. During an emotional time when your child needs your time the most, the last thing you want to do is spend it at work. They spend most of their time in the hospital, advocating and comforting their sick daughter. I understand that money is tight for everyone but its extremely tight when you are hit with this type of burden. I am asking that if everyone could just donate a little it may add up quickly for this family! My ultimate goal would be for them to be able to spend time with Emma without having to worrying if they are going to lose their house.
