Stranded on the Way Home

Guille left Wisconsin in December 2019 in his van bound for Argentina. He was supposed to arrive in his home country in June of 2020. However, as is true for most of us, 2020, well, it had other plans. He found himself quarantined due to COVID-19 in Colombia, South America beginning in March of 2020. By the blessings of his friends, mad cooking and craftsmanship skills and sheer ingenuity Guille has survived nearly a year and a half in a country somewhere halfway between his adopted home of Milwaukee, WI and his native city of San Luis, Argentina.

In early 2020 we were able to raise more than $5,000 to help with Guille's living expenses while he was stuck abroad. This was thanks to all the amazing people in his life who rallied to lift him up. It gave him the ability to live an unexpectedly long period of time in a country foreign to him, and he stretched every dollar as far as possible. It is hard for him to imagine the last year and a half without that assistance and he is eternally grateful. Unable to find a job during this period in Colombia, he has also supplemented his resources by making and selling his famous empanadas, cookies and beautiful jewelry, as well as picking up odd handiwork jobs.

Guille is currently attempting to obtain a new travel visa (his initial one having expired due to his forced extended stay) and is applying for a work visa in order to support himself as he continues to wait for the "green light" to finally move on.

In the home-stretch of his journey, he is in dire need of a final financial boost to get him to his ultimate destination: his beloved and long-missed family.

He will give you a list of ingredients to get for your kitchen and he will cook the same meal with you in real-time via an online video conference. It is a perfect way to reconnect with our wonderful friend and make an amazing and delicious meal in the comfort of your home! Just don't be afraid to tell him to slow down a little if starts to move too fast ;)
