Help a family in need! Megan's recovery journey.
Donation protected
Megan was taken to the hospital and admitted to Mayo La Crosse on April 14th. On April 23rd she was transported via helicopter to Mayo Clinic in Rochester. A positive strep test was the first diagnosis, which turned to pneumonia and then sepsis. Multiple chest tubes were put in trying to remove the congestion in the lungs; most of the pain comes from the tubes. A constant flow of oxygen is necessary to even get Megan sitting upright. The antibiotics are helping, but continued pockets of fluid continue are being found which delays her exit day.
She continues to be hospitalized in Rochester and is looking to make a full recovery but it is going to take some time. We are hopeful that she will be discharged soon so that she can be home with her family. Her husband Brad has been trying to balance work life and caring for their 3 kids (Kamden 16, Celeste 4, Bennett 1) the best he can while also trying to be with Megan at the hospital as much as he can.
Megan works as a NICU nurse at Gundersen Health System, but will probably not be able to return to work for a while (she's hopeful sooner than later). Brad and Megan are also a volunteer team, from helping at Riverfest, highway clean up, the Brownsville Fire Department and much more. We are asking for support to help as she will be out of work for some time and also with medical bills, gas, and food while her family is visiting her in Rochester. Support, prayers and encouragement are helping Megan combat the harder days. If you would like to donate a different way, Venmo/Paypal/Cash please reach out to Darren, Steph or Angie. We thank you all for your support and wish Megan a full recovery.
