A couple of months after this photo was taken, we learned that my mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her case was different in that she had two different kinds of cancer, at two different stages. To fight it, she spent 6 months going through the most intensive kind of chemo that one can recieve. Just last week, she had a double mastectomy in order to get rid of cancer hopefully once and for all. Up next, she will have about 6-8 weeks of surgery recovery, and after that another 6-8 weeks of radiation.
Even before her diagnosis, we had been having money problems, but she did her best to support herself, and me. Because chemo was so dabilitating, she hasn't been able to work in almost a year. Currently, in order to help support us, I've been working more than 20 hours a week at a restaurant while going to a local community college in hopes of earning my paralegal certification. Even with my income, we do not have enough money to pay our bills regularly, regularly buy grocieries, or even to help pay for what our insurance isn't covering in medical bills. So, any funds that we raise will go to those three things, and helping my mom get a job and get back on her feet after she has officially beaten cancer. The funds need to be raised fairly quickly so that we can make sure our power, water, and heat are not turned off.
This means everything to me. My mom is the strongest woman I know and if I can take even a little bit of anxiety off of her shoulders, I would do it in a heartbeat. I want her to beat cancer and come out of it strong and hopeful. I want us to look forward to the future ahead, instead of worrying through every day. Thank you so much in advance for donating everything you can.
