Ashley’s Recovery Fund

As we are coming to terms with the long recovery ahead, we are facing a very costly reality. As a family, we are asking for help in raising money to cover the medical expenses for Ashley.

On 9/1/22 Ashley and her boyfriend Garrett were in a motorcycle accident. They were attempting to avoid a deer when it ran into the side of the motorcycle and they lost control. Garrett suffered a separated shoulder and road rash, but ultimately is okay. Ashley was airlifted to Marshfield where she is currently in the ICU. She sustained major head trauma and small brain bleeds. Ashley fractured her right clavicle, right ribs and broke her left wrist, fractured her iliac crest and has damage to her right eye along with multiple facial and skull fractures. Due to her extensive injuries, we are beyond grateful for the witness at the scene who called 911 and kept her stable until paramedics arrived. The ICU currently has been trying to keep her sedated to help her brain heal.

As of 9/3/22 Ashley’s midline shift corrected itself and some swelling has gone down. There is minimal to no bleeding on her brain currently. Ashley’s overall swelling across her body has also improved. She was woken up briefly today and was able to recognize family and answer yes/no questions with head nods. She still is unable to wiggle her toes, but can move her legs. The respiratory therapist has moved her to spontaneous assisted breathing, meaning she is doing most of the work. We are hopeful that she will have the breathing tube removed by tomorrow. Ashley is a fighter and all the prayers she has received appear to be working.

Ashley is selfless person who makes new friends that turn into family everywhere she goes. She has a love for life, adventure, and music (who hasn’t heard her sing karaoke??). With a long road of recovery ahead and insurance only covering a partial amount of the expenses, any contribution will help. We appreciate all the love and support we have received during this time, and will continue to post updates on Ashley as we go.
