THE PROJECT
In Zachary Clause's latest cabaret concoction, he dawns a floral frock and pays homage to the people who keep this world turning, and the people without whom none of us would exist. Hey Girl! is a musical paean to women, especially the ones who don’t suffer fools gladly, who kick up the dirt in front of them, and who basically tear down the patriarchy one brick at a time. Zachary shares personal stories aided by songs from a wide variety of artists like Lady Gaga and The Talking Heads.

ABOUT ZACH
A Philly native, I moved to the city to pursue acting at the ripe age of 18 and haven't left, for better or worse. After several years of hitting the pavement in the professional theatre world, I found the work that I was getting wasn't the work I'd always wanted. It took me about nine years and four agents to realize that if I wanted to keep performing, I was going to have to create my own work. After filling my brain with queer literature and gender studies at the New School, I was inspired and felt ready to test the cabaret waters–and honey, they were warm and delightful. After my first show, Is That All There Is? I experienced a catharsis in a way I’d never felt as an actor–who knew I could look directly into an audience's eyes and talk them... and they’d listen. Cabaret is the warm hug I never got on a large stage.
I like to think the work that I create vacillates between absurdity and my profoundly personal experience as a queer performer. Life can be funny in one moment and deeply painful in the next and no matter what show I’m working on that is always my goal.
Over the past few years, I've created several shows that I'm so proud of, and audiences seem to love them as well. My one-woman shows, Hey Girl!, Zachary Clause, Does Bette Midler at The Continental Baths, 1971, Is That All There Is: An Evening With Sherry Duvall-Covington, and Sherry Takes A Holiday have played to full houses around the city at The Red Room, The Laurie Beechman Theatre,The Rrazz Room, and Pangea.
