About the Film

Hey Boo, follows Leah Daniels, a timid young woman who must confront a shady hairdresser after a beloved family heirloom goes missing during a hair appointment.

About the Director

Hailing from Winston-Salem, NC, Victoria Lartey's visual storytelling journey began at a young age. Currently pursuing her MFA in Film and Television Production at SCAD, Victoria intentionally sets out to tell stories that vocalize the Black experience.

While attending SCAD, Victoria has served as the director for many films, both affiliated and not affiliated with the university. Most recently, Victoria has had the opportunity to work on ABC's Promised Land, Paramount's The Game, and FX's Atlanta. It was during her time on Atlanta that she was inspired to write Hey Boo, which (much like Atlanta) showcases the everyday, yet (sometimes) bizarre experiences of Blackness.

Hey Boo, will serve as Victoria's thesis film and reflect all she's learned on her road to becoming the visual artist she is today. As the Writer and Director of Hey Boo, Victoria is creating not only a film, but a piece that will stand as a relatable visual experience for many.

How Funds Will Be Used:

We're striving to raise $11,500 to go towards the making of the Hey Boo, film. Below is a breakdown of how we intend to use all of the received donations.

Production

Compensation for Cast and Crew Members
Renting of locations
Purchasing of material for set designs to create appropriate aesthetics for each scene
Renting of professional filming, lighting, and sound equipment
Catering (Craft Services) to provide meals to Cast and Crew Members on set

Post-Production

Editing of footage
Color correcting of raw footage
Sound mixing and adding of visual effects

Film Festivals

After post-production is complete, we'll be submitting Hey Boo, to film festivals that will provide the opportunity for the film to reach wider audiences potentially via well-known streaming platforms.
