Heroes saving Andrea...
I am Andrea Duque, I am 37 years old, chef and administrator by profession I am a Venezuelan immigrant in the United States, I live alone in Philadelphia, I have liver and colon cancer, I am deeply grateful for all I have received from this country, which has not only opened its doors for me to reside in it, they gave me partial medical coverage to treat my diagnosis of which I was notified on April 20th, 2021 from that day everything in my life turned around 180 degrees, at the same moment of my diagnosis I was hospitalized for 4 days, after that I had 5 chemo and continued working, then on Sunday June 13th I entered the emergency room and on the 16th I fell into a coma for 22 days, fortunately thanks to my desire to live I got up from that hospital bed, but by that time my financial situation was completely affected.
I did not have any work disability, which has generated a greater concern, because although I am very grateful with my medical coverage and with all my family and friends for their support, as of September 30th I do not have any more savings , nor help from the state, nor can I work because my body is still weak and each chemo is stronger so I have to rest and I no longer have money to cover the deductibles for expenses: medical, food, rent, transportation to move to my chemotherapies that are once a week, recuperative therapies and postoperative expenses. In October, I will have a surgery to remove the tumors from my body and the recovery so far is indefinite, a reality that I am sure will change after the surgery.

Yo soy Andrea Duque, tengo 37 años, chef y administradora de profesión soy Venezolana emigrante en Estados Unidos, vivo sola en Philadelphia, tengo cáncer en el hígado y en el colon, estoy profundamente agradecida con este país que no solo me abrió las puertas para residir en él, si no que también me ha dado cobertura médica parcial para tratar mi diagnóstico el cual me fue notificado el 20 de abril del 2021 desde ese dia todo en mi vida dio un giro de 180 grados, al mismo instante de mi diagnóstico fui hospitalizada por 4 días, posterior a eso tuve 5 quimios y seguía trabajando, luego el domingo 13 de junio entre al hospital de emergencia y el 16 caí en coma por 22 días, afortunadamente mi deseo de vivir me levanto de esa cama de hospital, ya para ese momento mi planificación financiera se vio afectada por completo.
Yo no contaba con mi incapacidad laboral, lo que ha generado una preocupación más grande que yo, porque aunque estoy muy agradecida con mi cobertura médica y con todos mis familiares y amigos por su apoyo, a partir del 30 de Septiembre no cuento con más ahorros, ni ayuda del estado, tampoco puedo trabajar porque mi cuerpo aun esta debil y cada quimio es fuerte por lo que tengo que guardar reposo y ya no tengo dinero para cubrir los deducibles de los gastos: médicos, alimenticios, renta, transporte para movilizarme hacia mis quimioterapias que son una vez a la semana, terapias recuperativas y gastos de post operación. En Octubre será operada para sacar los tumores de mi cuerpo y la recuperación hasta el momento es indefinida, realidad que estoy segura cambiará después de la operación.
