Heroes in the Sky Song Fundraiser

Why is this so important to me?

This song was written as a tribute to staff who lost their lives to Covid 19. During these difficult times our thoughts are with those family members left behind, some of whom may be children and maybe orphaned as a result. This fundraising initiative is to support as many family members as possible during this time of great loss. The proceeds of which will go directly to the family programme – mentioned below.

The Healthcare Workers Foundation (HWF)

The HWF is a charity founded by NHS workers, for NHS workers. The primary aim of the organisation is to support the welfare and wellbeing of those working within the NHS and healthcare space during the COVID-19 crisis, and beyond. Services cover the physical, mental and day-to-day needs of all healthcare workers, from doctors and nurses to cleaners and porters.

During the pandemic HWF delivered over half a million units of service and items to NHS workers, including 900 meals a day from HWF partners to hospitals, free access to counselling and childcare grants for those in financial need.

Why did you write the song?

The writer of the song (original lyrics) Miriam Sohoraye works for the NHS and for a brief period in the first wave went back to the
frontline.
This experience and the overall personal experience outside of work inspired her to do some something meaningful for staff who lost their lives to Covid. Hence she wrote the lyrics to this song “ Heroes in the Sky” and with the support of family and friends the
music has been created.
