Hello, my name is Kathy and I'm fundraising for the medical expenses and living expenses of my beautiful sister, Heidi Vares.

On November 12th she went to the ER because she had been having migraine headaches for several weeks. The results of the CT Scan showed that she had a brain tumor (Hemangioblastoma) the size of a lemon. Although the tumor was deemed benign, surgical removal was not considered an immediate option due to how interwoven it was. The doctors were able to temporarily insert a drain that relieved the internal pressure (which it gratefully did) and now they are making decisions for the next phase of treatments (likely radiation to shrink the tumor). Heidi was released to home care before Thanksgiving but needs round-the-clock care and supervision.

Her husband, Shannon, has been unable to work and has been at her side 24/7 since the initial diagnosis. Needless to say, the medical and household expenses have been adding up. Heidi will not be able to work or drive for the foreseeable future. Your donations will go toward Heidi's ongoing medical expenses, household expenses and care support she needs as she recovers from future treatments. We will update you on her progress soon.
