Hero Scott Bolton's Medical Fund

Donation protected
He may not like to be called a hero, but on Sunday September 18th, he was. Scott Bolton answered a neighbor's call to step in and help her get herself and her 1 year-old daughter out of the house where Lita’s ex-boyfriend was making violent threats. He had struck Lita before, so there was weight behind his threats. So Scott's wife, Jackie, went over to Lita’s house to retrieve their daughter to bring back to her house. Scott and his friend, Tyler, then walked across the alley to help remove Lita from the situation. Lita was still in the garage when her ex tried to shut the garage door. Scott put his foot under the door to ensure it stayed open so he could get Lita out. Her ex tried to shut the garage door once again, but Scott continued to ensure the door remained open to allow Lita to leave.
While Lita was retrieving her belongings from her vehicle, her ex then went inside, seemingly bringing the crisis to an end - but of course, this is not the end of the story. Her ex quickly returned with a gun in his hand. The first shot came close enough to be felt, but the second found Scott's side, 13 inches of his small intestine, and exited just above his belly button.
What came next was chaos: police sirens, ambulances, and a family in shock. But Scott was alive, and so were the mother and daughter he crossed his back alley to protect.
As Scott's family, we are still processing what happened that night. We know we are immensely grateful that Scott is on the road to what is expected to be a full recovery, but we are also relieved that he was there for Lita and her daughter that evening. Without Scott, we don't know if Lita’s ex was ready to allow them to walk out of that garage.
Scott is expected to fully recover, but his path to recovery is long, difficult, and fraught with medical bills. Through this GoFundMe, we are turning to you for help in ensuring that Scott's bravery doesn't also drive him bankrupt. 100% of contributions will be applied directly to Scott's medical bills, and any amount exceeding that need will be donated to Hope's Door to help women and children who are trying to escape from someone in their own lives like Lita’s ex.
