Hero Harpie Fights Again!

Donation protected
A good friend once told me, “You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.” Unfortunately, that is the case for Hero Harpie.

It has been a complete J O Y watching Harper engage in as much life as one can being in remission in the middle of a global pandemic, however on Monday, February 14, Harper visited the Castle for her three month scans and left with results that are devastating. The cancer is back. Several nodules were found in her lungs and the fight nearly began that moment.

Upon finding out the results, Harper was scheduled for surgery on Friday, February 18, but due to an onset of symptoms, the surgery was moved up a day. The brave and courageous girl she is, handled a thorocoscopy (procedure on the lungs to biopsy the nodules) like a champ! In addition, the medical team attempted to replace the Gtube, but due to scar tissue, had some difficulties. Over the next two days, Harper handled recovery like a true champion and was released a day early. She is truly an inspiration to so many!

The coming days and weeks will prove to be difficult on many levels. Sarah, Harper’s mom, will be her full-time caregiver as Harper begins both inpatient and outpatient treatments that will span approximately the next 45 weeks. Due to the severity of the cancer and its placement in the lungs, this battle with cancer and the treatment plan (chemotherapy and full radiation of the lungs) ahead will be much more aggressive, intense, and invasive for our sweet Harpie.

Harper is a rockstar and she will fight the fight to beat this! Her mother is also a rockstar on so many levels. I am in awe of her courage and strength every single day. They, and all those very close to Sarah and Harper, deeply feel the prayers and positive vibes that are being sent their way.

As they begin this second battle, there are many unknowns in terms of medical bills, hospital stays, length of treatment, just to name a few. After a recent divorce, Sarah will be trying to navigate what life will look like as a single mom in terms of her ability to work and support her girls, as well as being Harper’s full-time caretaker. If you are able and willing, your help will be appreciated more than anyone knows.

Thank you for standing alongside this amazing girl and her mama as they once again battle the immeasurable! ❤️
