In honor of those lost and/or fighting during the ongoing health crisis and economic tragedy in Venezuela, I founded "Herman@s," an official nonprofit organization functioning out of the state of Washington. Our group of online, virtual pilots make deliveries through flight simulation and then try to make that a reality for people on the ground living in food-insecure communities with little access to healthcare.
We are currently focused on Venezuela and a community in the Lagunillas are of La Costa Oriental del Lago. Every Saturday evening, I virtually fly several aircraft (with Venezuelan flag carrier and/or first aid liveries when possible) to airports in Venezuela on Microsoft Flight Simulator. We ask that for every successful landing and/or for any content you appreciate, you donate what you can to support the people.
Venezuelans continue to suffer from what many locals are calling "contagious pneumonia." Because of failed healthcare systems and lack of education, there isn't a general consensus that this disease is COVID-19, though many of us in the states are sure of it. In addition, the vast majority of locals lack food security. Many families are on the brink of starvation, repurposing basic crops into small makeshift meals that may barely get them through the day.
My wife and many other Venezuelans have lost close family members and lifetime friends to COVID-19, starvation, malnutrition, and other health-related problems (most of which are totally avoidable given proper medical care).
With our connections in Venezuela and Colombia, and our ability to facilitate transit and deliveries with dollars, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS, LITERALLY!
