If you know even a little bit about Tracy Holbrook Stephens, you'll know she's been through some truly difficult times. But you'll also know that she's always confronted challenges with a disarming smile and an optimistic and humble heart. Even in her most trying moments, the needs of others often take priority with Tracy — she's raised an amazing daughter, been a devoted partner, and cultivated a dizzying array of friends and fans, all while working full-time and designing extraordinary jewelry as a side-hustle. AND, if you happen to be a stray animal in South Texas, there is no better doorstep to land on, as Tracy has for decades also opened her heart, her home, and her wallet to nurturing and re-homing countless creatures who would otherwise be left to suffer.
Tracy has recently received the difficult news that she has breast cancer. As always, she's facing this news with her inimitable humor and positivity (with a few tears thrown in for good measure). In fact, Tracy shared with one of her friends that she hopes her diagnosis will bring not only greater awareness about the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, but also that her sharing about some of the associated physical and emotional struggles will open all of us up to greater sharing about our own health and wellbeing, and our collective occasional need for help in any of its forms from others. Because so many of our struggles are shared and so much of the stuff we're presented with in life takes a village. So, from her friends' perspective, this is an opportunity for us, her village, to rise to the occasion and show her how much she is loved, how much she matters to us, and how much we choose to be present to help her through this journey.
It's the holiday season, a time when many of us turn our attention to helping the helpers. Although Tracy is insured, the deductibles, co-payments, lost wages, and on-going needs of her two- and four-legged family are heavy weights we can collectively help lift, because we want to relieve her burdens and help provide her the opportunity to focus a little richly-deserved healing energy on herself.
If you can afford to contribute, please know that all funds raised will go to help ease the burdens of one of our truly good and kind and above all LOVING humans on earth. And know any contribution of any amount will be cherished by Tracy as a gift from a beautiful friend, no matter how close you are in her everyday life.
If you're willing to share this call-to-action, please do. Tracy loves ALL of us, and this is our opportunity to show her that love is enthusiastically reciprocated, and abounds beyond measure.
