Here Comes The Rain: Book Release

Hello All!

My name is Renee A.S. Berry.  You may know me on Youtube/Social Media by my pen name, StyleSkinny, that skinny brown girl (with natural hair!) living in Philadelphia, PA. However, many things have changed recently and I am now that Skinny Brown Wife! ...Newly married, and finally able to add another title of "Author" to my name!  Now I know you're probably wondering how you ended up on this site and why you're even reading these words...

About a year ago I set out to write a children's book about a little brown girl's relationship with her afro textured hair.  Here Comes The Rain was born soon after and as the book came to life I realized the importance of empowering our children and celebrating and embracing their differences.

It is my belief that all children deserve to feel beautiful, loved, and appreciated.  As a little brown girl growing up my parents taught me the value of self worth, but not every child will have this opportunity.  With the sharing of this book I hope to spread the message of self love, acceptance and a hope that one day all little girls (and boys!) will be able to live freely and happily in the skin they're in.  

This is the first book in my "self love" series! There will be more to come!

Here Comes The Rain needs your help today!

To be quite honest, It took me over 2 months to create this Go-Fund-Me page.  Not due to lack of technological skills, but merely because I truly struggle with the act of accepting help from people. Until this moment, I spent the last year personally, fully funding the making of the book.  From hiring the illustrator, editing, to printing sample copies, I've worked tirelessly to get everything in motion.  It hasn't been easy as during this time I was laid off from my career job, and I landed in the ER twice, all while planning my wedding which occured in June!  

But family and friends, the time has come.  Great things are not easily acheived. I have reached the point where I am strong enough to ask for your assistance, and accept anything you are able to graciously offer!

I would like to print 100 physical books AND make Here Comes The Rain available for online order on Amazon and Barnes and Noble (amongst many other sites) all by the first week of December, 2015.  I chose to launch by this date in order to enable people to gift the book for Christmas and the Holiday Season. 

*100 books: $1,610 approx.

*Print On Demand (To make the book available for global online purchasing): $200 approx.

*Anything extra will be used to pay % fees required by GoFundMe, and added to the profits made from the sales of the first books to print more!  With more physical books I can vend at events and sell at book signings! 

My time is short...my goal is hefty, but I know with your help I can do this!  It would mean the world to me to be able to finally publish and distribute this book!Needless to say, this is my GOAL!  Help me get this important message out to all  of the beautiful girls out there!
