My aunt was a very healthy and active person and always took her health seriously. Cancer is a disease that runs in our family, so it was especially important that she stay on top of her health by being physically active, eating a healthy diet and keeping up with all doctor appointments.
A full year and a half went by with her complaining to her doctor that something was wrong. She kept being misdiagnosed, even though she was adamant that it was something more. May 2019, she was in so much pain that she had to go to the emergency room. After much testing, she was diagnosed with having cancer. Multiple masses were found in her lungs and kidneys. Within two months, more began to appear on her pancreas, they were aggressively mutating. Stage Four Lung Cancer. We were broken-hearted.
She was shattered and so was the rest of the family. In the span of one year, she had to undergo chemotherapy and multiple surgeries. This was just the first go round. When we thought she was finally cancer free, being in remission for seven months, we were hit with more devastating news. The cancer had returned, this time on her left adrenal glands. More surgeries followed and new masses developed after one month on the right AND left adrenal glands. Because the last surgery had been too soon, she had to undergo even more rounds of chemotherapy.
As you can imagine, medical bills have skyrocketed beyond what health insurance would cover. Because she has more treatments to undergo in an effort to be cancer free, I am trying to raise money to help her pay outstanding medical bills and future medical bills until treatment is done. Before cancer, she worked a full-time job that she loved but due to the multiple surgeries and treatments, she was unable to continue working.
Throughout this whole ordeal, she has maintained her faith in God and stayed strong, always having a positive attitude. Focusing on family and friends helps her push through and she is determined to finish strong and see the end of this disease.
If you can find it in your heart to help my aunt with her medical bills, no amount is too small. Donations can also be sent to $LynnManderson. All funds will go towards her medical bills. Thank you for taking the time to read her story. Please share her story with others, she is a survivor and with the love and support of her family, friends and you, we know she will beat this!
