herDIVASpot funding launch

In this current climate, we thought it was more important than ever to celebrate, cultivate, and educate our young ladies of color, as the divine & intelligent voices they are. It was with this in mind that we decided that bringing our organization, herDIVASpot, to the forefront. 

Modeled after the innovative and awe inspiring parent program African Womanhood is Mine, founded by Barbara Gathers, herDIVASpot is a year-long rites of passage initiative designed to not only introduce young ladies of color ages 11 to 14 to their community-at-large, but to provide them with true tools for their growth and womanhood.

herDIVAspot will walk these young women through a comprehensive, yearlong program that is broken into four modules. These modules comprise the complete ‘DIVA’: Divine Intelligent Voices of All ages and include the following topics:
- Self-Acceptance/Worth
- Visionary Reinforcement
- Enhanced Educational Vision
- Financial Literacy/Accountability
- Community Responsibility
- Advocacy
- Identity
- Adolescent Growth

We are in need of raising the starter funds to get our program up and running and make it subsidized for our young ladies. Our goal is to obtain enough funding to pay for the resources: books, materials and supplies that they will be using, and the legal fees tied to the creation of this particular kind of extracurricular activity, which is missing in today's society.

We are projecting to start the program virtually in September of 2020.
