Herbie’s Derpy CT

Hi, I’m Herbie’s mumma.
Herbie is my little netherland dwarf rabbit. He’s about 7-8 years old and he’s a pretty silly boy. I’ve had him for close to 7 years and in all this time he’s been super healthy which is remarkable for a rabbit with the small facial structure.
Over the last few weeks Herbie has had a weepy eye and snotty nose. In rabbits, this is a clear sign of dental problems. I took Herbie to the Unusual Pet Vets for a few appointments to try to treat him non surgically but this has not worked. The most recent appointment on Sunday showed his other eye has become weepy
and on examination there’s been no improvement on Herbie grinding his teeth down with all the extra hay and chaff I’ve been providing (along with pain relief).
The next steps are to do some imaging and a dental procedure to file them down. I’m estimating around $2000 for everything.
With this in mind, I’m doing a fundraiser for the little dumdum if his teeth are not treated in a timely fashion then they will only get worse and the treatment is more invasive and the costs increase. Unfortunately this has come up at a time when I’ve spent the last few months saving for some hefty hoomin bills and my savings have just taken a huge hit.
In Australia we can’t get pet insurance for rabbits. Everything is out of pocket so I am no stranger to large vet bills. Over the years of owning rabbits I’ve done about 5 CT scans, multiple X-rays, an echocardiogram and countless hospital stays for the buns and It’s never been an issue. It’s just this time with Herbie, it’s come up at a really bad time.
Thank you for reading and donating.
