Hi, my name is Herbie Dean. I am a cancer survivor. Four years ago, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It took two six-hour surgeries, three months apart, to successfully remove my thyroid gland. Six months later, I took a radiation iodine treatment to eliminate any remnants of cancer that remained.

That's when another unexpected battle started. With the removal of my thyroid, I was prescribed Synthroid daily to replace the functions of the gland that was removed. Since then, I have seen an endocrinologist in the United States, two endocrinologists in the Bahamas, and most recently an endocrinologist in the Dominican Republic. They have all tried to regulate my thyroid levels with no success.

Since my last doctor's visit, my condition has gotten much worse with severe pain on my lower right side, trigger fingers, insomnia, and weight gain. I have gained 43 lbs. in less than six months.
