My son was recently diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease in November of 2024. On his 10th birthday Jan.14 2025 we went to the doctor to get some labs done. The next day his doctor called me and told me to rush him to MUSC in Charleston SC. Within the next couple of days he started dialysis treatment. My son is one of the strongest people I know by far. After losing his father to cancer in 2019 and now facing ESRD ( end of stage renal disease). He has been handling everything better than myself! Im starting this gofundme because it was recommended by a few. I have never liked asking for help or looking for any type of hand out but with everything going the way it is im here as a last option. My son (Herbert aka Hykeem) should be getting put on the transplant list for a new kidney hopefully within the next couple of months. After receiving his new kidney he will be immune suppressed, meaning anything could get him sick and his body will not be able fight off the infection as well and anything could happen. I would like to raise money to face any obstacles that come in the future and help with any medical expenses. His last hospital visit turned into a 3 week stay. I currently take my son 2 and a half hours to and 2 and a half hours back home every monday, Wednesday, and friday to complete dialysis. I work every other day of the week that I can. Any money raised would help take the stress off a little bit and possibly allow me to spend more time with my son! It would help with any future hospital stays without having to worry. After his transplant we will have to stay in Charleston for up to 2 weeks for routine check ups and this would help with that as well.
