On the night of Friday, November 13, 2020, Stefany Herbert was involved in a near fatal car accident where she was tboned by another driver. After being cut out of the car, she was rushed to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center where the hospital staff informed family members that she was in critical condition. Stefany has two daughters and a son whom do not live in the area, so they immediately made travel arrangements and got there the very next day. After working on her for hours, they were able to stabilize her on a ventilator in the ICU where she stayed for
Several days. Thankfully Stefany pulled through!
It will be a long road ahead for recovery as Stefany has suffered multiple injuries including a brain bleed, shoulder fracture, 9 rib fractures, pelvic fractures, a sacral fracture, spinal fractures, and lacerations to her liver and spleen. She has required multiple blood transfusions, and surgery to stabilize her pelvis, shoulder, and right foot.
The healthcare team are in disbelief that she has survived. She has made a remarkable recovery thus far. She has since been extubated and is currently in the hospital in stable condition with the anticipation of being discharged to an inpatient rehabilitation facility in the near future. Her family will be traveling back and forth to help during her recovery. She will require months of rehab and once sent home, needs someone around the clock to help her.
Stefany and her family will need help with income replacement, travel expenses, and medical bills not covered by insurance.
