Her New Life Needs One Final Step: Surgery
Donation protected
A little over three years ago, I took a significant deviation from my regular path to reclaim my health and life from three autoimmune diseases. I have worked hard at losing weight and improving my overall health. Due to my permanent lifestyle changes and medical interventions, I have been able to get off many of my medications, mitigate the effects of most of my autoimmune diseases, and be more active in life. Because of these choices I have made, I have lost over 220 lbs and am now at a healthy weight. Because of the extreme weight loss, there are after effects that the body cannot recover from. My husband has been my greatest supporter, financially and emotionally, of my journey. While he has been able to provide the resources to assist me in restoring my health, he cannot afford the surgery required to remove the excess skin removal to get past the finish line. Insurance helped with the weight loss intervention, but will not finish the job.
No one tells you of the struggle of the loose skin that now affects my body and mind. I had double knee replacements in 2012 and with the excess skin on my lower half it's a daily battle to walk sometimes, by the of the days my legs are swollen and hurting .
My husband works hard to provide for us that I'm trying my best to try and figure this out. I've had no luck with our insurance. All and any help would be appreciated.
