You have likely learned that on Friday, July 1, 2022, Richanna Edwards-Marsh lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer at the youthful age of 32.
Throughout her arduous, two-year battle, Richanna could have been consumed with thoughts of her condition: her hair loss, fingernail loss, weight-loss, nausea, loss of mobility, and how robbed she was by the whole experience. Instead, and anyone who spoke with Richanna knew, her constant thoughts were of her 7 year-old son, Brian (aka “BJ”), for whom she’d suffer through anything to stay here with. Like any parent, Richanna planned to give her son the best start in life that she could, then hold his hand the rest of the way. She envisioned karate, track, and swim, later on graduation and travel, and herself standing by whenever he glanced back for a smile or reassurance. Richanna will be watching Brian now from a different vantage point than she’d envisioned — one that will certainly feel less close and reassuring to him. But Brian’s family is determined to ensure that his hand will still be held, and his every need met, the rest of the way.
So many have reached out asking how they can help during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, meals, and the like, the family would like all support to be for Brian’s benefit. Before passing, Richanna established a trust. All funds contributed here will go to Brian’s trust and college fund, helping ensure that despite the change in Richanna’s vantage point, she’ll still see her wishes for Brian come true.
