My sweet cat Sorrel is only 6 years old, but she is far more than a pet—she is one of my best friends and my unofficial emotional support kitty. She has been by my side through some of the hardest moments of my life, and the comfort she gives without ever asking for anything in return is something I can never put into words.
Sorrel was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) at just 2 years old, a condition that significantly increases the risk of cancer. Despite this, she continued to live a happy, playful life… until late April 2025.
Out of the blue, Sorrel developed a mass near her nose and inner eye. A biopsy confirmed our worst fear: nasal large B-cell lymphoma. She began aggressive chemotherapy (CHOP protocol) and fought bravely through each treatment. Just two weeks before the mass returned, we were told she was in remission—a moment of immense relief that was heartbreakingly short-lived.
Although Sorrel still had three chemotherapy sessions remaining on CHOP, the mass suddenly reappeared. A needle biopsy confirmed it was active cancer, not scar tissue, meaning the CHOP protocol had failed. At this point, radiation therapy is her best and most definitive chance to control or eliminate the tumor.
Sorrel does have pet insurance, and while it does help, her policy is capped at a certain amount per term, which unfortunately falls far short of the care she needs. Radiation therapy alone exceeds this limit, leaving us with a significant financial gap.
Before radiation can begin, Sorrel must first undergo a CT scan of her head to properly map the tumor and plan treatment.
• CT scan estimate: $3,500
• Radiation therapy estimate: $12,900 for 18 treatments (a full course)
Additionally, Sorrel’s insurance chemotherapy benefits will be exhausted by February 2026. Any remaining funds will help us continue maintenance chemotherapy to keep the mass controlled until her insurance resets in July 2026.
Every donation—no matter the amount—helps us move closer to giving Sorrel the care she urgently needs. If you’re unable to donate, sharing her story means just as much. Please feel free to message me directly with any questions or concerns.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, caring, and supporting Sorrel—my best friend and constant source of comfort—during this incredibly difficult time.
No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or promotions are offered in exchange for donations made to Sorrel’s GoFundMe.
