Today is my mother’s birthday , so I thought it’d be fitting to post this today. She makes 58 today. She’s had 58 years of love and happiness, ups and downs. My mother is the most amazing woman I’ve ever known. She’s been through so much and overcame so many obstacles. She has recently been diagnosed with ALS.

A nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function.

In this disease, nerve cells break down, which reduces functionality in the muscles they supply.

This illness is INCURABLE and TERMINAL .

It seems like it came on suddenly, but my mom’s been dealing with mobility issues for a while. Slowly but surely, her legs, then hips, then back, then arms all slowly gave out, and now she is confined to a bed.

Despite these conditions, she’s in good spirits. God has her in his hands. She cannot talk, but she is very animated. She gets her point across no matter what. This woman is amazing; everything thrown at her, she just handles it. I love her so much, and so many others do too.

I'm asking for any help to get my mom the best quality of life she can have due to her ALS diagnosis. She no longer can work, walk, or talk. We need more medical equipment so I can take care of her at home peacefully. We need a bigger hospital bed, and we would like to find more assistance to take care of her and be home. Anything will help, and even if it’s just a prayer or time, she misses all her friends. She misses being social.
