David's neck surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jennifer and my husband's name is David. We found out today he will need neck surgery and will be having it on April 12.
About a month and a half ago he woke up with a lot of arm and neck pain. He thought he slept wrong. As the day progressed it worsened and his right arm became numb.
We went to the emergency room and was told it was a pulled muscle and pinched nerve. A week went by and it was no better. I was going to call on Monday to make him an appointment but his pain got to bad on Sunday. He woke up in excruciating pain, we returned to the ER. They did a cat scan and said he had severe spinal stenosis at C3 and C4 and moderate at C5 and C6. He has seen a neurosurgeon and had a MRI.
Today we received the results of the MRI and its much worse than we originally thought. The disc at C4 is completely ruptured. C3-C6 are so smushed it has almost completly closed off the spinal fluid from around his spinal column.
David is our sole provider. He does have short term but must be out a week before receiving any pay and his short term pay is significantly less. We must also pay insurance out of his short term then there is no money left. With us not being to far into the year he still has deductible left to reach. His expected time off from work is only 2 to 3 weeks.
10 days after his surgery is when we will go to Birmingham to meet with the dysautonomia specialist to hopefully get answers to my symptoms I have had for about 3 years now. They are doing test that day that I will also have out of pocket cost for that must be paid up front.
With davids neck as bad as it is they said he has no option but surgery. They must get that spinal column opened back up to allow the spinal fluid to flow.
All money donated will go towards replacing his income the few weeks he is off and our out of pocket expenses.
