Help Me Escape Domestic Violence and Start Over in the UK
Hi I’m a man currently stuck in Victoria BC Canada desperately trying to escape an abusive marriage. My wife has been violent for two years and I need to leave for my safety. I’m raising funds to cover a flight to Newcastle UK plus a month of accommodation food and travel to start over. The abuse has been relentless. She’s slapped me countless times scratched my face, arms and neck pulled my hair painfully while assault like this happened thrice this week. Last week she woke me at 4 a.m. to grab pills right beside her then assaulted me blocking my airway with her nails until I couldn’t breathe. I have bruises and marks. She never apologizes only pretends to be kind to keep me trapped and does the violence in cycle the pattern is like 2 days she's quiet and the 2,3 days assaults me. She has mental health issues and health conditions. I’m a permanent resident in Canada with a UK work visa good for a year. I contacted help but options for men here are slim. The police saw my video and urged me to leave but said pressing charges would jail her which I don’t want she’s sick. Charities like VictimLink BC and Victoria Women’s Transition House explained that shelters are mostly for women and men’s shelters are unsafe often with drug users. I met with Legal Aid BC lawyers who said men’s rights in domestic violence cases are limited. They warned income assistance is too low to live on and my PR status doesn’t unlock enough aid. Their advice escape to the UK where I have a chance to rebuild. I have no money left. My savings went to rent and other expenses. In the UK a friend in Newcastle has lined up a warehouse job for me to start right away. I’m a data scientist and plan to get back into my field after saving up. Every dollar helps. If you can donate anything $5 $50 or more I’d be so grateful. I have PayPal too but GoFundMe feels safer to share my story. The proof is attached to show I’m telling the truth. Please help me get out and start fresh. Thank you for reading and any support you can give.
