Henzley Needs Your Help!!!
Donation protected
Henzley Walker was born on January 19, 2017. She was not due until mid-February, but due to complications with Henzley, she had to come into this world 5 weeks early. In the womb Henzley was diagnosed with a Chromosomal abnormality which consists of a 6q25-6q27 deletion and a 3q25 duplication. She was not growing properly inside her momma, therefore the doctors decided she needed to greet us with her presence early. The Chromosomal abnormality is so rare that the doctors had a few basic ideas of what to expect but not many resources and information out there for them.
When she was born, she was immediately taken to the NICU where there were several issues that were found by the wonderful staff. These issues included some physical abnormalities, her heart work up showed an ASD, tricuspid valve leakage, mitral valve "small posterior leaflet" left pump muscle was initially weak but resolved on day 7, the coronary arteries that are around her heart are normally found on the left side and hers are found on the right along with a heart murmur, and her brain work up showed some abnormalities as well.
On her 3rd day of life she developed bloody stools and became very sick. Labs and x-rays were done and the doctors concluded that she developed NEC (Necrotizing Enterocolitis) which is a very serious illness in infants typically found on day 19 of life. The doctors told Ashley (Mom) and Brandon (Dad) to have their family come and say their goodbyes, that they didn't think Henzley would make it through the night. Henzley had a different plan and gradually got better on her own with the help of the amazing NICU staff. Henzley had gotten sick 5 different times and developed NEC again and each illness ranged from very serious to "maybe a viral thing". She would have episodes of bowel distention, outrageous labs and films showing infection after infection, 3 different blood transfusions and much more. She sure knew how to keep the staff busy!
On day 54 of life while still in the NICU, Henzley was deemed as an urgent flight to Seattle Children's Hospital because she was not getting better and there was nothing more that the NICU could do for her despite some trails attempted. She is stable and enduring many thorough tests to see how all of this is connected and what can be done to improve her health and get her on the track. She will have a complete work up ranging from Cardiology, neurology, neuro development, genetics, gastroenterology, ENT, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, cranial/facial team, and many more.
Henzley is such a little fighter and is God's gift to us all. (Jeremiah 29:11) Henzley’s family consists of Mom, Dad, and a sister Holly, who was only able to meet her on day 3 of life when Henzley was on her death bed.
There are many medical bills that have incurred to help keep Miss Henzley alive. Medical expenses keep pouring in and now that the family is in Seattle, there will be added costs of traveling to get Dad and Sister back and forth whenever possible as well as living expenses while in Seattle. Due to the severity of issues with Henzley, Mom is with her every moment, making the household that was a two-income household down to a one income household.
Ashley and Brandon have never lost faith throughout all of this, and continue to believe that God is with them and Henzley every step of the way.
Financial support for this family will go to medical bills, travel and living expenses while Henzley in Seattle, and future needs of Miss Henlzey after they bring her home. The Walkers are an amazing family, and they will do whatever it takes to ensure that Henzley comes home one day healthier. Any donation that can be made with be greatly appreciated. Here is a thank you in advance and God Bless!
