Hey guys this is a low-key (but passionate nonetheless) outreach to "Our Man" Hensley's inner circle of friends and family. As you may have heard a malignant tumor was discovered in Hens' partoid gland (in the cheek area) in March. This is right on the heels of him having to have a bunch of MOHS surgery done earlier in February for skin cancer. He's had a hard time catching a break, but in typical fashion he has kept an amazing attitude. As an indepedent contractor respiratory therapist Hensley doesn't have a Cadillac health care plan ....anything but. As you may know, our buddy's job is to care for some of the most dependent brothers and sisters we have on this earth...individuals with ALS, quadripeligics and parapeligics. During COVID, when the going got tough and alot of his colleagues were quiting due to the stress and challenging conditions Hensley persevered pulling long and extra shifts because of his commitment to the patients / residents where he works.
We all know what a special guy Hensley is with a natural ability to brighten your day and make you laugh (sometimes roll in the floor) sharing one of his anecdotes. He's been there for many of us when we've had our challenges in life and to celebrate our happy moments as well.
With all of the various tests, imaging procedures, the surgery and recovery Hens will have missed alot of work and paid PTO is not a perk of his job. So the missed work and medical expenses are a double wammy for him that he's been very stressed about. It would be a beautiful thing to help him just focus on getting well and not the financial impact. Come August he'll join the Medicare club! He doesn't know anything about this (Go Fund Me) so please keep it on the QT and we'll surprise him. If we all pitch in a little as we're able it could take a significant burden off of our dear friend when he could use some good news.
Thanks and God Bless,
Vic
