Support the Healing Journey of Rescued Hens!
Spende geschützt
Near the end of April, local animal advocates negotiated the release into safe arms of dozens of hens from an egg-laying operation in Oregon. It was shutting down after workers posted on Craigslist in an attempt to sell them off.
Despite being from a “cage free” “organic” farm, these hens had spent their lives in incredibly crowded and stressful conditions, facing fierce competition for space and access to food and water from their fellow birds. The harsh reality of "cage-free" environments is often overlooked, as these hens are overcrowded in what is essentially one big cage the size of the interior of a barn. As an organic farm, they are denied proper medical care, such as antibiotics when needed. It is a struggle for survival and rescuers witnessed several severely injured and deceased birds.
The rescue operation was a testament to persistence and compassion. Volunteers arrived at dawn, equipped with crates and protective gear, ready to give these hens a second chance at life. They moved mindfully yet swiftly and transported the rescued hens to a staging area where they received medical attention, water, and care before beginning a new chapter of their lives.
Now, we need your help to help cover expenses from the rescue operation and for the continued care of these birds as they recover from factory farm conditions at sanctuaries and foster homes. From transportation and medical care to food and housing, every aspect of this operation requires funding, which means that you can be a part of their recovery. Our fundraising goal is $2500, and your generous donation will ensure that we can continue to rescue animals from exploitative conditions and provide them with the care and love they deserve.
Please consider contributing today. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these hens and provide for them the time and space they need to heal and explore their new lives. At this moment, the rescued hens are foraging in grass, taking dirt and sun baths, and finally experiencing a peace that can never be achieved when living crammed in a factory farm shed with thousands of others. After a quarantine period, these hens will live peacefully at local sanctuaries and adoptive homes including Out To Pasture Sanctuary and Wildwood Sanctuary.
You can be a part of their journey.
It takes a village, and thankfully we have one.
Thank you for your compassion and support!
