Hello, I'm Jade and I'm in need of a hand.
I recently came home from a 10 month deployment and quickly decided it was time to treat myself to a new car. I've had my 2001 Volkswagen Beetle, Herbie, for almost 15 years now so naturally, it's performance is on the lower end of the scale. I spent the rest of my deplyment savings on getting him fixed (new fuel injection pump, timing belt, fuel & oil filters, ect.) Over three grand and a week later, the bug was broken AGAIN. That was the last straw that made me end up and the Mini dealership. I was just dumping money into a car that isn't even worth that much anymore. My boyfriend has since then replaced different things on it such as the relay panel and a few sensors, but no luck.
August 28th, 2015 I signed a lease for my new 2015 Mini Cooper Countryman. Since I exhausted all my funds into the bug, leasing the car for a few years was better for my budget. Free upkeep! I let the dealer know that I had never leased or bought a car before and that the bug has been my one and only (purchased by my grandparents) so he needed to dumb everything down and let me know everything about leasing/buying a car. Long story short, I didn't know I had "X" amount of days to put it on my insurance. Eventually my boyfriend brings up that I should probably call my insurance to put it on there just in case. I called twice that day during my working hours and no answer. I figured I'll call again when I get home and settled.
A few blocks from my house a lady zoomed across traffic and T-boned me. That pushed me into another car, which ran up in a yard and almost hit 3 small children. The lady fled the scene. Her bumper fell off (license plate in tact) and that's how police found her and arrested her later the evening.
I found her on Facebook to find out her insurance information and her response was "no insurance, sorry"
In the end my mini was totaled, my insurance can't help me because I didn't insure it in time, the car she wa driving is insured but Safeco conveniently doesn't cover "non-permissive" drivers, and no lawyer can help me since I wasn't insured (for the mini) .... so here I am... paying for a car that I don't have and a few days ago I receieved a letter from Mini Financial saying I have 10 days to pay off $29,000.00 or the bill is going to collections and the car will be reposessed. I'm on the brink of filing for bankruptcy just to try to help out myself in any way possible but I felt that I should give this a try first. I'm such a proud person and I hate asking anyone for help, especially financially but I'm quick to help other people out. I guess I've always thought about myself last.
I'm asking for any donation you can afford and a prayer you can send my way. I only put a goal because the website makes you. I'm not expecting anything but will be incredibly thankful for everything. The money will be used towards paying the collectors and or down payment for a new car. If you need clarification or want to know more about my situation thus far, please shoot me a message.
Thank you and have a blessed day!
XO,
Jade
