I’m Claudia and I’m Henry’s Mum. We have had him since he was a puppy 6 years ago. We have never had to take him to the vet but at the beginning of July he started to limp and hold up his front paw. We went to the vet on 7th July and they said they would need to sedate him to go in to the paw up to his wrist and flush what they thought was a grass seed out. Obviously we were going to go ahead, but in the middle of June we had a letter from our Pet insurance company to say our policy needed to be renewed as it was finishing at the end of June, but the payments were going up by nearly double. So we decided to change insurance companies to save money. This new policy started on Sunday 29th June. Therefore, Henry’s injury started during the 14 day ‘cooling off’ period. This means that none of his past treatment (around £700 worth) or ongoing treatment/medication is covered by the policy. We now have to find the money for a biopsy (approx £1000) of Henry’s skin to see why the antibiotics aren’t clearing up the infection (he now has 2 abcess’s that keep popping and then reinfecting) which is why I am trying to raise at least some money towards our boys treatment.
