Our ten month old son Henry was born with a VSD, a hole in his heart, that due to new complications will require open heart surgery to close. This news came unexpectedly and with short notice. Prior to this, the cardiologists advised that we take a watch-and-wait approach, and there was hope that the VSD could close on its own. Three days after one of his regular echocardiograms, where we were again left feeling hopeful, we received an unexpected call stating the team of cardiologists concluded Henry will need surgery after all, and soon, due to the VSD causing a valve leakage.
Henry’s surgery is scheduled for June 16th and will require 4-10 days in the Pediatric ICU and a lengthy recovery period after discharge.
My wife Anna is a homemaker and I run a small business (Springtails US) which provides for our family. Anna is pregnant with our first daughter due in August. Unfortunately, my income depends on my ability to fulfill orders every week, and due to the nature of Henry’s surgery and recovery, I may need to take a month or more off to help care for him. This is not long before I will again have to take time off to support Anna and assist with our daughter when she arrives in August.
Any donation or share of the GoFundMe link is greatly appreciated. Your support allows us to worry about taking care of Henry instead of groceries and bills. Thank you so much for taking the time to hear our story.
