Hi, my name is Sina and I've set up this fundraiser for my dog Henry.

For those of you who don't know, I've had Henry for the past eight years. He's gone on tour with me, sat through dozens of book clubs, and given me deep kisses in the nose the whole time. Growing up, I couldn't have a dog because we lived in an apartment with strict rules... Henry is my first pet, and he's been the best homie I could ever ask for.

Last month, Henry got rushed into surgery after being admitted for a procedure to deal with some bladder stones that had developed. This is a moment of sheer luck, because if I hadn't have opted for a non-invasive procedure, the doctors would not have done an ultrasound and spotted the tumor growing on his spleen. After extensive tests and biopsies, Henry has been diagnosed with b-cell lymphoma.

This isn't the worst news in the world, actually. The amazing oncologist we're working with joked that the "b" in b-cell lymphoma stands for "better" (as opposed to t-cell lymphoma, which they call "tougher"). Henry started chemotherapy a little over a week ago, and he will be going in for weekly sessions for the next four months, with sporadic sessions happening another two months.

The "facts" I'm working off of are that 80% of dogs enjoy about one year of remission, and the other 20% celebrate two years and beyond before the lymphoma returns (at which point it's a discussion of more chemotherapy or healing crystals 'til... y'know). It's by sheer luck that we caught the lymphoma EARLY. It hadn't even spread to other organs when the spleen was removed. If I didn't have full confidence that my dog has YEARS (plural) ahead of him, I wouldn't be asking for support from my friends, family, and folks reading.

The chemo treatments are about $2,500 a month. I'm setting a goal to help me get through the first two months so I have time to recalibrate my spending and find a few more gigs to help pay for the rest. Any additional funds raised will go towards the remainder of his treatments, unexpected vet visits (like the one I had this weekend), specialty meals etc.

To quote my friend Nick who's been guiding me the whole way, "your only job is to give him the chance to fight." Please help me in giving Henry the fight he's got in him.
Thank you for reading!
