Help Leif & Susi with Henry's End of Life and Vet Bills

Long story short (read more below) : our big beautiful cat has passed after a valiant effort and his emergency vet bills are more than our pet insurance covers.

In spring 2024, we rapidly lost two cats. We couldn't stand living in an empty home, so we went to the Seattle city shelter and met 6-year-old Henry. Henry's family had to part ways with him due to unfortunate circumstances, but clearly loved him and left a lot of notes.

At the shelter, Henry was too sad to eat. Seeing him miserable in the corner of his kennel, we decided to bring him home. Henry healed our broken hearts and we helped mend his. Over the next 18 months, he became our big lovable teddy bear (who was still always a little sad).
In September 2025, Henry's health deteriorated. He saw our regular vet who did bloodwork, but while waiting for her results, he declined further. We took him to the emergency vet, who did surgery on his bowels and discovered he has lymphoma.

A week later, he became anemic and he had to go back to the emergency vet for two more nights.

Unfortunately, Henry lost quality of life every day, despite all his vet trips. The complications piled on and his body couldn't keep up. We made the difficult decision to let him go. Up 'til the end, he got lots of cuddles, forehead kisses, steamy rooms, warm beds, and good pain killers. ❤️
We have pet insurance, and that covered $10,000 of his medical bills. But his vet bills and end of life care are greater than that. On top of that, I'm still hurting from approximately $7,000 worth of emergency vet bills from our previous cats.

We need your help. Anything you can spare will help us as we recover.

Here's how your money will help. Your donations will (ordered by priority):
  • Pay off Henry's second and third vet bill - $3,865 (high priority).
  • Pay for food and medications. Henry ate a special diet through a feeding tube - $100 (medium priority).
  • Pay for Rambo and Gor Gor's end of life care and vet bills. We lost Rambo to cancer and Gor Gor to complications from diabetes - $7,210 (low priority).
  • Covered. Pay off Henry's first vet bill, remainder not covered by insurance - $1,000
  • Covered. Pay off at-home euthanasia and ashes - $840
