As many may have heard, Henry has been diagnosed with stage 4 Lymphoma and stage 4 Esophageal cancer. His physicians do not expect he will be able to ring in any more than one more New Year. He will not be able to see all of his children graduate, or get married, or celebrate his 30th anniversary with his loving wife Karen. It is expected that he will soon have to take permanent leave from the workforce as his health is deteriorating rapidly.
We have chosen not to set a goal for this campaign as we do not expect to raise a specific goal, however, losing Henry’s income will have a financial toll on the family, with surmounting legal, medical, and day to day bills. Any donation big or small to Henry and Karen’s expenses - those present and those to inevitably come - through GoFundMe would be greatly appreciated. All of the funds received will go directly towards the family expenses which are being overseen by a financial advisor.
Anyone who knows Henry and Karen Vandekuyt knows their level of care and commitment towards their 13 children - biological, adopted, kinship - and to those many, many children over the years they have opened their home and their hearts to as foster parents. Henry and Karen have dedicated their lives to their family and their Church. They have committed themselves to help those less fortunate. But unfortunately, a lot of negativity has come their way quite recently. Life can do that sometimes.
In the face of these challenging medical circumstances is Henry and Karen’s endless fight as child advocates. Over the past several months, their youngest five children have faced unusual challenges. Henry and Karen have stepped up to meet the children’s needs to protect them, courageously devoting all of their time and resources to their children. These selfless acts left the family vulnerable even before Henry’s diagnosis.
On behalf of Henry and Karen, their children, their extended family members and their loved ones thank you for the support, the prayers and the love shown over these past couple of weeks and undoubtedly, in the months to come.
We’re praying for you, Henry.
