Henry the Hiker on the Camino Frances April 6 - May 27

Henry's mom here. Have you heard of Henry the Hiker? Henry is 11 years old and has been hiking and sharing his adventures since he was 7. Piece by piece, Henry has hiked just over 500 km of the 900km Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest footpath. Along the way he created the persona Henry the Hiker and has shared his experiences on the trails with followers on Instagram, You Tube and Facebook. It was definitely an adventure!
Then Henry began to realize that there were places outside of our province. Henry found a photo in a hiking magazine of the cabin on the summit of Tin Hat mountain on BC's Sunshine Coast Trail and with some fundraising, he was able to secure the experience of a lifetime and we hiked there, spent the night and hiked down again the next day. Along the way he kept everyone up on his adventures, encouraging people to get outside and explore.
Last year Henry started getting curious about the world outside of Canadas' borders. So Henry did some research and came across the Camino in Spain - specifically the Camino Frances. I planned to mothball my business so I could accompany him, leaving Henry's dad to hold down the farm and his own business solo. Everything was going as planned.
However, Henry's fundraising efforts have just not brought in the needed funds. And so this is our last ditch effort to try and save this adventure for Henry the Hiker.
The Camino is no cake walk. He has to learn to communicate in Spanish and experience a culture day in and day out for 53 days that is vastly different from his own. And with your help, hopefully we can get him there and he can bring you along on every amazing day as he posts and shares what he is experiencing daily on route.
More than just a hike, the Camino is a meeting spot for people of all ages, abilities, ethnicities and cultures to come together on a common purpose, with a common destination. What a brilliant opportunity to showcase genuine people, across all walks of life and let Henry learn that regardless of who you are and where you are from, you can always find common ground and a common passion. That the world should be somewhere you can go out into, stretch your legs and learn to experience it as it really is.
I cannot express how appreciative we are for whatever you can give, even if it is just to share his posts and follow his social media channels and help get his message out there.
